Dr. Rey Rosales holds a Ph.D. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Master of Science in Radio-TV from Arkansas State University. He was the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship as well as various other international fellowships. He has more than 20 years of university teaching experience (Canada and the US). Prior to assuming the role of the department chair, he served as the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications at MacEwan University (2009-2017).
Dr. Rosales recently completed a stint as a visiting fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he also earned a global entrepreneurship program credential. He also completed a highly selective management development program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2012 as well as an innovation in higher education program in 2014 through Educause (Breakthrough Models Academy funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation).

Reach for the Stars
Student-led networking event for industry professionals and students in the Dept of Communication. The event is designed to foster student success, engagement and retention. This has been a successful annual event that started last year. It led to further mentoring sessions and connections for potential field place. The members of the student organizing team also ended getting a job after graduation.

Magpie - Publication for journalism students at MacEwan
Students produce and submit stories plus media file (audio, video, data visualizations, slideshow, etc.). We publish every two weeks (5 issues) for the fall term ending in December 31, 2022.

This is Phase II, which will include reporting, accounting, wrawrap-up, follow up communications, etc.
